3D CAD Modelling
Computer Aided Design (CAD) is the term used to describe the process of using a computer to produce design plans. Historically, CAD software were developed to replace manual hand drafting processes in the production of engineering drawings or architectural designs. Over the years as computational technology advanced, so did the capabilities of CAD software. Now parts can be completely designed and visualised in 3D, rendered photo-realistically, animated to resemble moving characters or machinery, and even undergo simulation for stress and failure scenarios.
We use Autodesk Fusion 360 as our primary CAD software. It is a highly versatile platform that allows for the design of precise engineering components as well as irregular shapes with free flowing contours and curvatures. We can work with a wide range of source materials to produce models that will meet your requirements. Below are some examples of what we can do.
Physical Reference
This is the most efficient way to produce accurate models. If you have a physical object, we can take it and replicate it in CAD, modify it as needed and even custom design components to fit with it.

Engineering Drawings
Engineering drawings are also an excellent way to model precise parts. A quality drawing that is designed to be handed off for construction or fabrication is always suitable for 3D modelling.

Photographs
If you have a photo of the part, we can most likely model it to look the same. However we will need you to provide key dimensions depending on the application.

Hand Sketches
Hand sketches can work well for simple components. Again depending on the application we will require dimensions.

Existing 3D Files
If you have compatible files on hand, we can import it into the software and modify it as required. Although not every type of 3D file will be suitable for editing, we will work with you to determine the best approach.
