This project was done in August 2015 and was the first time I tried designing a gift to give away. A friend who loves to bake also recently adopted a puppy and moved into a new house. What better gift than a custom made cookie cutter with her new best friend on it? I started off by showing a picture of the dog to my wife who drew a quick simple sketch of it. The image was imported into CAD and I simply traced around it and made a thin profile to do a protrusion from. The results came out pretty good and looking back, her reaction when she realised what it was really planted the seed in my mind that this is what I want to be doing.
