This was a project from May 2016. My wife was building a Gundam model kit and realised that it was designed with a cavity to allow for add on LED kits to light up the head and optics. I had an idea to make my own version of the LED light which can be USB powered and left permanently plugged in. The LED component was simple as it was mainly just a cylinder with a hole in it and there was plenty of room for the LED and a current limiting resistor. The trickier part was the USB connection as I wanted to integrate a micro USB port into the model itself to provide the option of quickly disconnecting the cable when not needed. I ended up replacing a piece of skirt armour with a custom designed piece that is modified to accomodate for a micro USB port.
